Teen Gothic

[decided to post this on here too]

For starters, I’ve dealt with stares and name-calling for the majority of my life due to the way I dress and present myself. I’ve had photos taken of me with nasty captions and people asking me to show them my wrist, and for the most part I’m use to it, but lately it’s seem to have gotten worse with people yelling it out loud in public for everyone to hear.

I was at the state fair and had a group of guys run up to me in line asking me if I made porn, telling me they liked my costume (“oh wait.. thats just how you look”) and laughing obnoxiously loud while people just looked away. It was really uncomfortable and anytime I ran into them again they’d just KEEP going. That same week me and my friends were harassed and followed in public again, getting called the “wrist cutters” “suicide squad” “hookers” followed by them asking for our socials over and over again.

So for those who also deal with this or have had similar experiences, how do you deal with it? Any advice is much appreciated.

Here we go, out on a limb here – but have there been many films about gothic people, or where the concept of the film was surrounding the Goth culture? Please don’t recommend me “The Craft “ lol

I hear people talking about finding your local scene and stuff but I know there isn't one where I am. I live in a very country area with a very non-diverse population. I was just wondering how I could find other goth people, honestly just in the same state as me. What are some tips (that I as a minor) could use to get other goth or alternative friends somewhere near me?

I know this sounds stupid and feel free to downvote or remove if you don’t like this post. I need to start by saying I am fully aware that goth is mainly about the music. However, I am just curious do any of you just listen to the music and do nothing else. I want to go to an event but I feel like I won’t know how to carry myself at one. I really like the music and would love to meet people who like this music , however, I like so many other stuff so I can’t really call myself goth though. Ok… I am rambling at this point. Anyone just in it for the music? Anyone relate to anything else I said? Any different experiences? Any questions, comments, suggestions welcome!

Edit: I realized I was very vague when I said other stuff but by other stuff I mean other genres of music( fun fact: I got into goth through metal…it’s complicated)
